Hi all,
“The Fools Gold Enduro”, after over 50 years of putting it on the California Enduro Riders Association (CERA) will not be putting on the annual Fools Gold event this year in the Rock Creek area of the El Dorado National Forest. I have to admit that this bring certain amount anxiety to me after being a part of such a great group of people with a common belief and commitment to keep the traditional values together that we all shared. yes, it was base on riding dirt bikes on trails that evolved over the many years of being driven by a strange internal drive that we all shared.
Today, even though I am many miles away from the Rock Creek area, I want thank the many individual who help make all of these events possible. From the many hours of trail work to the developing the most basic concept of the event. From the course layout, setting the speed averages, the placement of the Check, the front end administrative duties such as the AMA & District dates and sanctions, the Forrest Service Permit, the event Insurance requirements, etc. The Coordinators of the event, from course layout, the many hours of the individuals to took time away from their family’s to work on clearing the course, the review of all the necessary event materials to have on hand to make for a safe and successful event.
My small portion of helping the club out putting on these events has been such a major enjoyable part of my life. The many phone calls, e-mails and conversations with the club members ment so much to me. I could hear each of your excitement when we talked about your confirmation that you would attend the event and participate where ever your event assignment put you. Thank you all so much!
One of the many enjoyments of the events were the pre-event dinners, camp fires and maybe too much to drink a time or two;), and many that I will never forget. Thanks to all who helped make this happen.
I am afraid as we all progress towards the autumn years of our lives, many of these cultural values will/have already disappeared. So sad, It was so enjoyable to look forward each year to get out in the forest on my dirt bike with my Brother and so many lifetime friends.
OK, enough, yes, I’m feeling my age as time passes us all by. Thanks again my friends for the many years of great times we all had together putting on one of the best Enduro events in Northern California for over 50 years.
Thanks to all,
